Developed originally at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education Master's degree in Education Entrepreneurship program, the New School Models Design Lab provides a design process that allows leaders and educators to create a new learning environment from the ground up.
Developed for individuals and team members who work on or support those who affect the design of learning environments, the Design Lab focuses on understanding how and why today's learning environments can be improved to better support students. Participants will leave the Design Lab with their own “Blueprint” for a New School Model, along with resources to help pursue their vision.
The New School Models Design Lab is a 27-session course empowering forward-thinking leaders to create a blueprint to guide the holistic deployment of self-directed learning. At the end of this course, you will have the knowledge and skills to design beyond the limits of traditional school design.
About the cohort
We’re looking to assemble a cohort of at least 4-5 teams (~20-22 participants) to pilot the course this fall. In addition to the self-paced online course, participants will be invited to attend three virtual check-in sessions to discuss the content and receive coaching and feedback from Institute personnel:
August 9, 2023 from 6:00pm to 7:30 pm EST
October 18, 2023 from 6:00pm to 7:30 pm EST
December 6, 2023 from 6:00pm to 7:30 pm EST
Each team will produce an actionable blueprint for a school design. As part of the cohort, your blueprint will receive one round of feedback from Institute staff plus the ability to purchase additional consulting hours with our team.
